An intimate warm weather wedding on the lake at Sunday Park in Midlothian, VA was just the dream setting that Berina and Matthew had envisioned to tie the knot.
The Story
We met on Bumble, of all places! And to make it even more adorable, we quickly realized we lived across the street from each other! On our first date, we walked and met halfway between apartments, grabbed some beers and dipped our feet in the pool on a perfect summer night. The rest was history!
The Proposal
Nags Head was the destination of our first beach vacation the year before. It was July 4th and the plan was to walk to the beach and watch fireworks. We positioned ourselves by the water to have a friend take some pictures before the fireworks started and before I knew it, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him!
The Dress
I found my dress at Tiffany’s Bridal. I tried on about 20 total and even though the movies make it seem easy, that was not my experience in picking “the one”. I actually found my “one” in 3 dresses and I wished I could morph them all into one. Because I honestly couldn’t choose, all my ladies took it to a vote and “the one” was picked unanimously by everyone.
First Look
We did not do a First Look. It was not my preferred choice at the time, but the groom was hell bent on seeing me for the first time that day walking down the aisle and not a moment sooner. It was really important to him to see me for the first time walking down the aisle. I wouldn’t change it now if I could. It was really worth the wait to see his face light up.
Favorite Moment
It seemed like I waited my whole life for this one moment of pure bliss: All of our closest friends and family were enveloping us on the dance floor to a jam and I’ll never forget the moment in which it seemed like time was moving in slow motion and I can remember closing my eyes with a smile plastered on my face thinking to myself that yes, this is what I’ve been waiting for, this truly is the best night of my life.
Advice for future couples planning their wedding
Do whatever makes you happy. Don’t worry about anyone else’s opinions as no matter what decisions you make, someone will always have something negative to say about it. If the planning gets stressful, just stop and remember why you’re doing it in the first place.
