Valentine Museum Wedding | Lauren & Jack’s Purr-fect Day

March 4, 2026
Real Weddings
Cat as a flower girl in the wedding party

Lauren and Jack’s Valentine Museum wedding in Richmond, VA was what I lovingly call a certified cat wedding masterpiece. It was pastel perfection, a little bit chaotic thanks to the rain, and centered around one very important flower cat named Teddi.

As a wedding photographer in Richmond VA who lives for candid moments, pets, and full hype-girl energy, this day was basically my Super Bowl.

Getting Ready at The Hilton Richmond Downtown

It poured almost the entire wedding weekend. From rehearsal to send-off, rain. But honestly? It just added to the cozy, low-key vibe Lauren and Jack wanted.

Lauren wore a pale pink gown from JJ’s House that perfectly coordinated with Jack’s pink tie. The bridesmaid stunned in pastel blue, while the groomsmen rocked pale blue suits with matching pink ties and color-coordinated argyle socks. We love a committed aesthetic.

And then… Teddi.

The flower cat.

Teddi wore a ruffled pink ensemble with a matching pink collar and leash, and yes, she understood the assignment.

Lauren and Jack met on Hinge while she was stationed in North Carolina in the Army and Jack was working at Fort Meade in Maryland. Their relationship started long-distance, bonding over their love of cats and planning cruise adventures whenever they could finally be in the same place. So having Teddi there wasn’t just cute. It was personal.

Outdoor Ceremony at The Valentine Museum

The rain held off just long enough for Lauren and Jack to have their ceremony outside in the garden at The Valentine Museum. Truly elite timing.

They chose this venue because it was a perfect midpoint between their East Coast families and, most importantly, because it allowed Teddi to attend as long as she remained in an enclosed carrier indoors during the reception. Priorities.

The ceremony was sweet, simple, and intentionally streamlined. As a blended family, they wanted to focus on celebrating and then getting to the after party with their people. No long pauses. No drawn-out formalities. Just, “Let’s do this and go party.”

And yes, we made sure to get portraits with Teddi in the garden before the skies opened up again.

As a pet photographer in Richmond VA, I can confidently say she crushed it.

Portraits with Their Flower Cat

Because the weather was unpredictable, we moved efficiently and intentionally through portraits. My whole approach is candid and guest-focused, which is exactly why they booked me.

They wanted real moments, not hours of stiff posing.

We grabbed wedding party portraits, some sweet just-married moments in the garden, and of course the iconic flower cat photos before Teddi retreated to her enclosed carrier for the reception.

I also helped coordinate the timeline and navigate logistics, including stress-free cat management strategies. Making the day smooth and keeping pets comfortable is kind of my niche.

Cocktail Hour Inside the FANCY Exhibit

One of the absolute coolest parts of this Valentine Museum wedding was the exhibit happening during their big day: FANCY: Costumes, Characters and the Richmond Masque.

Guests were able to grab drinks from Groovin Gourmet and explore the exhibit during cocktail hour, wandering through displays about Richmond’s history of costumes, celebration, and dressing up for performance.

It made cocktail hour interactive, unique, and honestly way more fun than just standing around.

Reception at The Valentine Museum

The reception stayed cozy indoors while the rain continued outside. Commitment to the bit, apparently.

Florals by Coleman Brothers complemented the pastel palette, and the energy shifted quickly into celebration mode, exactly what Lauren and Jack wanted.

They didn’t want an overly structured day. They wanted candid moments, fast transitions, and maximum guest time. And that’s exactly what they got.

Later, they left me the kindest review that still makes me smile:

“Linda is fantastic! We did an engagement shoot and had her as our wedding photographer. I seriously cannot recommend her highly enough. Every single photo was awesome! She caught all the great authentic moments and knew all the best poses. Everyone looked amazing in every photo which is a testament to her skills since we are not usually photogenic people! She even got fantastic photos of our ‘flower cat’ who was a little less than cooperative during the pre-ceremony photos. She wrangled family expertly at the wedding and made everything go so smoothly. She made the day stress free. We will 100% use Linda the next time we need photos! If you want an awesome photographer who can handle crazy families with ease and take the best photos, Linda is the one for you!”

Making a cat wedding run smoothly in the rain while wrangling family members is just another Saturday as a wedding photographer Richmond VA couples trust.
