Roxanne and Brian’s Quirk Hotel wedding was the first day of their incredible two-day multicultural celebration in Richmond, VA. As a wedding photographer in Richmond VA who lives for candid moments and pups in bow collars, this one had my whole heart from start to finish.
The energy started early at the Quirk Hotel. There was a steady hum of excitement with friends flying in, family reconnecting, and many guests experiencing a Parsi ceremony for the very first time.
Roxanne wore a sheer white saree adorned with delicate pink floral embroidery, a beautiful nod to their vibrant color palette of rich pink and gold. It was elegant but still playful, which felt exactly like her.
Brian wore a traditional white dugli paired with white trousers and a prayer cap, as is customary for a Parsi groom. The crisp white against the bold decor later in the day looked incredible.
And then there was Leah.
Their 4-pound pup was present for everything, thanks to the pet-friendly Quirk Hotel. She wore an adorable white velvet bow collar like she fully understood the assignment.
During their first look, Leah barked so loudly in excitement that everyone’s heads turned. It was one of those perfectly unfiltered moments I live for. Brian later shared that the first look was his favorite part of the weekend, and having Leah there made it even more meaningful.
The Quirk Hotel wedding ceremony took place on the rooftop with the Richmond skyline as the backdrop.
Instead of the traditional neutral stage setup, Roxanne and Brian reimagined the ceremony with a deep blue aisle runner and rich pink and gold accents woven throughout the decor. The colors felt bold, modern, and completely true to them.
The vibe was pure joy.
Many of Roxanne’s friends and Brian’s family had never attended a Parsi Indian wedding before. What stood out most was how welcoming and educational the entire experience felt. Roxanne’s family embraced everyone, explaining traditions and inviting guests into the beauty of their heritage.
Male guests wore suits while many female guests wore in brightly colored sarees that popped against the rooftop setting. It was vibrant, emotional, and full of curiosity and respect.
As a dog friendly photographer, I balanced documenting meaningful traditions with sneaking Leah treats so she would keep blessing me with those expressive little faces.
Because I am a wedding photographer in Richmond VA who believes you should actually enjoy your wedding day, we crafted a timeline that allowed Roxanne and Brian to maximize time with guests while still capturing everything on her inspiration board.
Yes, that included scheduled treats and potty breaks for Leah.
I definitely bribed my way into Leah’s heart with her favorite snacks and even carried her around for part of getting ready. Worth it. (I may have sneaked in a selfie with Leah!)
We focused heavily on candid moments over stiff poses. The laughter between friends. The proud glances from family. The quiet breath before walking down the aisle. Those are the images that matter most.
As the night unfolded, Roxanne got her wish and danced nonstop. That was her highlight of the weekend, and it showed.
At one point, Roxanne’s friends surprised Brian with a fully choreographed dance complete with sunglasses and maximum bridal party energy. Her brother even broke out a signature move that stole the spotlight.
And yes, Leah made her appearance on the dance floor too.
This two-day multicultural wedding weekend was a beautiful blend of heritage, personality, and pure joy. Seeing it featured by Richmond Weddings Magazine felt like the perfect celebration of everything they created together.
It honored tradition while embracing color, energy, and a tiny dog who refused to miss a single moment.
