Mankin Mansion Wedding | Roxanne & Brian (Part 2 – American Ceremony)

March 1, 2026
Real Weddings

Roxanne and Brian’s Mankin Mansion wedding in Richmond, VA was the perfect blend of editorial style, high energy, and garden-party chic. As a Richmond wedding photographer who lives for candid moments (and dogs, obviously), getting to photograph this celebration, especially after capturing their multicultural ceremony the day before, was an absolute dream. This blog focuses on their traditional American ceremony at Mankin Mansion, but trust me… the full two-day celebration was iconic.

Getting Ready at Mankin Mansion

September in Richmond gave us a soft, overcast sky — which honestly? Chef’s kiss. The clouds created the most even, true-to-color lighting that perfectly matched the editorial vibe Roxanne and Brian were going for.

The wedding party leaned into a clean, classic look. The guys wore traditional black suits with taupe ties, perfectly coordinating with the bridesmaids’ taupe dresses. The bridesmaids carried wicker baskets filled with pale pink roses and held matching parasol umbrellas, giving the entire day a charming garden tea party aesthetic that fit Mankin Mansion beautifully.

First Look on the Grounds of Mankin Mansion

Before the ceremony, Roxanne and Brian shared a quiet first look tucked away on the grounds. Brian later said this was his highlight of the entire weekend — and it was easy to see why. It was calm, emotional, and completely centered on the two of them. These are the kinds of moments I live for as a photographer, the in-between, heart-pounding seconds that can’t be staged

Outdoor Ceremony at Mankin Mansion

The ceremony embraced a traditional American format, intentionally contrasting the Parsi Indian ceremony from day one of their wedding weekend. That contrast made this Mankin Mansion wedding feel even more intentional and layered.

Under the soft September sky, Roxanne and Brian exchanged vows surrounded by their closest friends and family. One of the most emotional moments came right after their first kiss. As the ceremony concluded, both sets of parents joined arms — the four of them standing together, smiling wide, unified in shared happiness. It was such a powerful visual of two families officially becoming one.

And yes… I may have been grinning behind my camera.

Portraits with Editorial Energy

Because this wedding was photographed with an editorial, true-to-color vibe, we leaned into clean compositions and movement. The overcast lighting allowed every taupe, blush, and black detail to shine without harsh shadows.

Reception Details & Signature Cocktails

Despite juggling full-time work and wedding planning, Brian surprised everyone by baking their tiered wedding cake himself. Not a small cake. A full wedding cake. It was such a meaningful final touch to an already intentional weekend. Yes. The groom. Baked. The cake. Icon behavior.

The bar featured three signature cocktails:

* A Bourbon Brûlée for Brian

* A Kir Royale for Roxanne

* And a blueberry vodka lemonade named after Leah

10/10 branding.

The garden tea party aesthetic carried through the reception with soft florals by Thompson’s Westwood Florist and elegant rentals from Classic Party Rentals of Virginia. The vibe stayed chic but never stuffy — energetic but never chaotic.

Fireworks Grand Exit

To close out their Mankin Mansion wedding, guests gathered for a firework grand exit by Signature Sparks. The sky lit up as Roxanne and Brian made their way out, surrounded by cheers, celebration, and a whole lot of sparkle.

It was bold. It was cinematic. It was the perfect ending to a two-day wedding weekend.

A Photographer’s Perspective

Roxanne and Brian found me through Mankin Mansion’s preferred vendor list, and from our first conversations, we clicked. They loved my fun, candid approach and my very serious commitment to getting great dog photos.

I had the honor of photographing both days of their multicultural celebration — capturing everything from emotional first looks to full dance floor chaos.

After the wedding, they shared:

“Awesomesauce Photography provided an incredible photography experience… We brought our dog to two of the events and Linda came with treats to help achieve some incredible poses with our pup. Overall, we had such an amazing experience and we will be hiring Awesomesauce Photography again.”

Hearing that? That’s the good stuff.

As if this day wasn’t iconic enough, Roxanne and Brian’s Mankin Mansion wedding was also featured on Richmond Weddings Magazine’s online blog, showcasing the editorial garden-party aesthetic and the beautiful blend of cultures across their two-day celebration. It’s always an honor to see my couples’ weddings recognized in the Richmond wedding community.
