Jessica + Salvatore – A Colorful Summer Wedding Fiesta at Seven Springs in Manquin, VA

January 13, 2019
Real Weddings

Inspired by family heritage and a love of nature, Jessica and Salvatore envisioned their perfect intimate catholic wedding surrounded by vibrant color and meaningful details as photographed by Awesomesauce Photography and story written by the bride and groom.

The Story

I worked for my sister in Costa Rica. Salvatore worked with her. He came to the trail where I jogged laps and pretended to watch insects while I ended laps short to avoid him. He followed me until we talked. We took a 3 hour walk to get some bikes left in the forest. We were pretty much best friends since then.

The Proposal

His parents came to town, and I made dinner. After they left, he kept asking me if I wanted to open my Valentine’s present early. It had a card with cats that said I want to spend my nine lives with you. I asked if he was serious, haha. We told his parents at Ihop Valentine morning.

The Dress

My dress came from BHLDN in Houston. I only had 2 days with my family, so we tried 4 dresses at David’s and 4 there. Besides ceremony, photos, & venue?! Moments = Dad playing us his own song, surprise strawberry photo since we had no cake, brother-in-law playing Frankie Vallie and Four Seasons just for me, Devin the small one in a suit.

Advice for future couples planning their wedding

Make choices for yourselves. Know the right people to vent stress and ideas to; each family member had their own comfort level for involvement. We skipped the guest list because all we wanted was to be with family who lives far. We did not have to deal with small talk alot of people we weren’t close with on the day of or stress about a bigger wedding.
