Gretchen + Paul- An Enchanting May Wedding at Linden Row Inn, Richmond, VA

The Proposal

We had recently learned to sail and purchased a 19′ sailboat. It was the maiden voyage on Lake Anna where I asked Gretchen to marry me and she said yes!

The Dress

I found my dress at Annalise Bridal in Richmond. It was the first place I went to try dresses and I loved it immediately. It was simple but gorgeous and it made me feel awesome. I felt like I was wearing the dress instead of it wearing me. The ribbon was an addition that I purchased from a French ribbon shop on Etsy and it really tied everything together with the overall feel of the wedding.

 

First Look

We did have a first look before the wedding and it was the sweetest moment. Leading up to our day, there was part of me that was disappointed we weren’t waiting, but it was also important to us that we were present for our entire cocktail hour and not off taking pictures. In the end, I was very glad that we went with the first look, because it was a nice moment with just the two of us and a chance to collect ourselves before the ceremony.

 

Favorite Moment

During the reception when everyone first took their seats. We had our own sweetheart table, and we got to sit there with each other looking over all of our friends and family talking and enjoying each others company. We also got to see the final product from all of the planning for decorations and center pieces. It was a beautiful moment seeing everything come together like that.

 

 

Advice for future couples planning their wedding

Try not leave crafting decorations to the moment.  Go out on a date at some point the week of the wedding.  And, most importantly, don’t sweat the small stuff.
