Some clients come into your life for a single season, and others become part of your story forever. Allie and Tyler are very much the latter. I first met them a few years ago as a wedding client, photographing their intimate backyard ceremony at the bride’s mother’s home. It was the kind of wedding that felt more like a family gathering, full of laughter, heartfelt moments, and the kind of love that instantly pulls you in. By the end of that day, it was clear this wouldn’t be our last chapter together.
Fast forward a few years, and an email landed in my inbox that instantly made my day: Allie and Tyler were expecting their first baby—a girl. Getting to photograph growing families is one of the greatest joys of being a Richmond VA newborn photographer, especially when it’s for couples you already adore. Capturing milestones like this feels less like a job and more like celebrating friends.
We began their journey with maternity pictures in Richmond VA at the ever picturesque Maymont. Spring light filtered through the trees, and Allie absolutely glowed as she and Tyler soaked in this quiet moment before life changed forever. Maymont’s gardens provided a soft, romantic backdrop that perfectly reflected their excitement and calm anticipation. These maternity pictures in Richmond VA felt timeless, full of gentle touches, laughter, and that unmistakable “we’re about to become parents” energy.
Once their baby girl arrived, we transitioned to a cozy lifestyle newborn session in their home. Lifestyle sessions are a favorite because they capture families exactly as they are-comfortable, connected, and surrounded by the spaces they’re creating memories in. Their nursery was a dream: warm yellow and orange tones filled the room, creating a sunny, joyful space that somehow matched their furbabies perfectly.
Speaking of furbabies, Ginger and Maple were very invested in the session. They proudly joined us in the nursery, making appearances beside the crib and always supervising. The nursery was finished with the most adorable detail—a mobile of little goldendoodles hanging over the crib, a playful nod to the family’s beloved pups.
Watching Allie and Tyler step into parenthood was incredibly special. From wedding day to maternity session to newborn snuggles, it’s been an honor to document their growing family. These are the stories that remind me why I love what I do—and why being a Richmond VA newborn photographer is so deeply meaningful.
