A rustic glam wedding at Alturia Farm in Manquin, VA is the perfect way to spend a Saturday in September. After their insanely gorgeous ceremony surrounded by horses and trees, Stephanie and Jason celebrated the rest of the evening with their family and friends in the barn. With a color palette of reds and navy, paired with pink accents and greenery, the wedding party sparkled underneath the string lights that hung above the dance floor.
The Proposal
So we’ve gone to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens every year that we’ve been together, we both LOVE Christmas and have a blast there. We were on our first trip of the season, only five days before Christmas because of how busy we had both been. We were walking towards one of my favorite lit-up trees in Italy when I saw one of Jason’s co-workers, Angela. Before I could tell him that she was there, he was down on one knee and asking me to marry him! He had gotten Angela and some other friends to come and photograph the proposal. I was so excited I barely heard all that he said! Everybody stopped and clapped for us, and two ladies gave us their Christmas light necklaces. It was just so perfect for us.
The Dress
I booked an appointment at Tiffany’s Bridal in May the year before we got married, so I’d have plenty of time to choose a dress and have it altered. My mom, Jason’s mom, and three of my bridesmaids came with me to try on dresses. The stylist walked me through the entire store and encouraged me to pick a wide range of dresses, just to try everything out, but once I saw my dress, I knew it was the one for me. It ended up being the third dress that I tried on, and as soon as I walked out of the dressing room, I think everybody else realized that I’d found the dress. I tried on a few more, to make sure I didn’t get any buyer’s remorse, but I knew which dress I wanted from the moment I tried it on. The long sleeves, the lace, the deep neckline, all of it was exactly what I wanted.
First Look
No first look for us! I’m glad we did it that way. The look on his face when I came down the aisle was priceless.
Favorite Moment
The moment before Jason & I were introduced at the reception. It was just so exciting to just be together, without anybody else, for a few minutes, knowing that we were about to really start the rest of our lives together.
Advice for future couples planning their wedding
Find ice delivery or a caterer that has ice! And make sure to eat as much as you can before the ceremony because you will have zero time to eat at dinner!
