Shanea and Erwin’s wedding was completely unique, overflowing with personal touches, and happened to be a Sunday morning brunch wedding. They served up waffles and mimosas amidst a relaxed and inviting atmosphere while the ladies channeled their inner Beyonce at the Manor House at Kings Charter in Mechanicsville, VA.
The Story
We met at VCU, during our senior year.
The Proposal
We were celebrating our “meet-a-versary” by going out for dinner. Erwin was rather quiet during dinner and just seemed worried. After dinner, Erwin asked if I wanted to come over and watch a movie. As we were driving back, he started telling me how much he loved me and couldn’t imagine life without me. I thought he was just being sweet and did not see a proposal coming. Once we got to his place, there were red roses and red-velvet cupcakes that spelled out “Will you marry me?” I turned around and he was on his knee with a ring. I was overjoyed with emotions and replied “yes.” I hugged him and then FaceTimed my mom and she answered screaming in excitement because Erwin had already discussed with her.
The Dress
I found my dress at David’s Bridal. I had determined the style of dress by searching through several online sites/blogs. I knew the dress was the one before trying it on. The store associate insisted I try on several others but immediately after seeing the dress, I knew it was the one!
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment was the reception. We decided on a more intimate wedding filled with friends and family with whom we have close relationships with. It was warming to see everyone we care about dancing and having a good time.
Advice for future couples planning their wedding
Enjoy the process, planning can be overwhelming but it’s so beautiful to see it all come together.
